Surprisingly, I’ve never actually had a no-chip manicure. Although I love the idea of having perfectly manicured nails that can stand up to washing dishes and chores that would typically ruin a manicure, no-chip sounded like something that was just too high-maintenenced for me. I don’t like spending much time in the salon, so knowing that I would have to book an appointment every couple of weeks for a polish change was an idea that steered me away from ever trying it.

On the other hand, no-chip manicures from home? Yes, please.

There are tons of UV nail lamps on the market, but with a quick search on Amazon, MelodySusie is one of the most popular nail lamps to choose from with really promising reviews. There are quite a few different ones to choose from, with prices ranging from $13.99 – $119.99.

The lamp I’m reviewing is the Pro 48 watt ($109.99), the second most powerful lamp next to the 60 watt model.

The machine is incredibly easy to use. All you do is plug the machine in, and on the back of the machine there are three buttons which indicate the amount of time you’d like to set the machine to, to dry your nails. There are 15, 30 and 60 second options. Once you apply a thin coat of gel polish to your nails, you place your hand in the machine applying slight pressure to the base of the machine. The machine will then activate the UV light, and it will count down from the selected time. Once the time is up, the machine will beep and turn off. Then, you can paint your second coat of polish (if needed) and repeat.

When using the machine, I used the 60 second setting, and put my hand in twice, to ensure my nails were completely dry. Immediately after, my nails were dry to the touch.

As far as nail polish colors, MelodySusie has two different collections to choose from: Sweet Reverie, which is a pretty variety of Spring/Summer pastel shades, and there is the Lux Classics, which are more of Fall/Winter deeper shades. Each set of six is $24.99.

Watched below are all of the shades in the Sweet Reverie Collection. My favorite shade of them all is a beautiful, soft lilac color by the name of “Violet Dream”.

MelodySusie Violet Dream; three days and no chips!

As soon I received this machine in the mail, I wanted to use it immediately, so don’t mind what my nails look like (I didn’t properly file or trim my cuticles first), but I wanted to show you the polish on my nails. Also, this photo was taken a few days after the nail polish was applied. No chips.. Yay!

I used the machine and the same color polish for my toenails as well (I will bear you the torture of posting a photo of my toes) and it worked out beautifully!

The MelodySusie Pro 48W Nail Dryer and all other MelodySusie products can be purchased on Amazon or at MelodySusie.com.
