I’m pretty sure Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Eye Pencils ($20/each) have been a staple in many of our makeup collections through the years – These creamy and long-wearing pencils are one of Urban Decay’s best selling products, long before any of their current favorites were around (such as the Naked palettes).
The greatest part about the line is the variety of colors and finishes. From shimmers and glitters to satin and mattes – you’re sure to find exactly (or close to) what you’re looking for.
The formula is great; it’s smooth and creamy, glides on the skin without ease (no tugging), has great coverage (most shades don’t need more than a single pass) and sets quickly. It is also waterproof – and no, that doesn’t mean it’s smudge-proof. If you like a more natural look, the formula smudges nicely if you use a smudge brush immediately after applying the eyeliner to diffuse the line.
If you have very oily skin or hooded lids, this might not be the best choice for you as the formula is moisturizing, and may smudge.
I have a few fun shades to share with you today-
Heartless – A light, frosted cool-toned pink. This shade has medium coverage and becomes more opaque when layered. It’s a fun shade that you can use to brighten up your eyes or accent a pink eyeshadow look.
Zero – A semi-matte black. A great black for those looking for a rich black, but not a very harsh “blackest-black” like the shade Perversion, which is Urban Decay’s darkest eyeliner shade. Zero is a great staple to have.
Demolition – A matte medium-dark brown. A fabulous shade for those who prefer a more natural alternative to black eyeliner. It gives a softer look, yet defines the eyes beautifully.
Alkaline – A matte reddish-plum wine. This shade debuted with the Heat Eyeshadow Palette and is a bold, daring shade that I think would pair well with any warm eyeshadow colors (browns, golds, coppers, bronzes, etc) maybe even paired with a similar colored lipstick.
Roach – A warm coppery brown with shimmer. A beautiful shade that is very practical – it looks natural and beautiful on the eyes and has a bit of a sheen.
I am really interested in giving Alkaline a try in an eyeshadow look, as I’ve never used an eyeliner shade like it before. When I do, I’ll be sure to share!
